The Koforidua Youth Manifesto Project, launched in September 2023, empowered 10,000 young people including women and youth with disabilities to actively engage in governance. The project strengthened youth leadership, boosted representation (with over 10 youth now serving as Assembly Members), and introduced the Youth Manifesto as a collective advocacy tool.
Key activities included leadership and advocacy training, digital engagement, and stakeholder dialogues, all fostering collaboration between youth and local authorities. Despite challenges such as trust gaps and gender barriers, adaptive strategies ensured success.
At the forum, Ruth Tetteh, a youth volunteer presented a Ten-Point Sustainability Plan to maintain momentum. The plan emphasizes youth ownership, continued use of the Youth Manifesto, active social media engagement, and ongoing mentorship from AFES-Ghana. The project leaves behind a strong foundation for sustained youth participation and influence in municipal development.
