The National Youth Federation officially launched its Eastern Regional Chapter at the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council on 6th August 2026, under the theme “Building One United Voice for Ghana’s Youth” and the guiding motto, “Empowered Youth, Empowered Ghana; Successful Youth, Successful Ghana.” The event drew youth groups and stakeholders from across the region, and AFES-Ghana was honored to see its own Miriam Tetteh named to the Chapter’s interim leadership as Regional Coordinator.
A Formal Welcome
The occasion opened with a welcome address from Madam Evelyn, Regional Director of the National Youth Authority (NYA), who formally introduced the gathering as the launch and sensitization of the Youth Federation in the Eastern Region, setting the tone for the proceedings that followed.
The Federation’s Mission and Structure
Presenting an overview of the Federation’s establishment and objectives, Mr. Sherif Ghali, President of the National Youth Federation, explained that the Federation’s core mission is to ensure youth groups are not overlooked and are equipped to carry out their work effectively. He described the Federation’s broader purpose as uniting young people under one collective voice, both nationally and within the Eastern Region.
Mr. Ghali also drew a clear distinction between representation and participation, underscoring the importance of genuine representation within the Federation’s structure. He outlined the Federation’s three-tier architecture — national, regional, and district — each level comprising youth groups drawn from its respective tier.
Interim Leadership Takes Shape
To carry the Eastern Regional Chapter’s mandate forward, an interim executive team was presented to the gathering by Ali Ibraheem, the National Coordinator for NYF.

A Milestone for Youth Unity in the Eastern Region
The launch marked a significant step toward uniting youth voices across the Eastern Region under the National Youth Federation, with an interim leadership team now firmly in place to drive the Federation’s mandate forward.
